Ediorial: It’s real. It’s here. It’s time to tackle this problem

MJS needs a new proof reader!

Let’s not let a debate that science has settled prevent us from acting on a threat to us, our children and our grandchildren. This could mean trading some pain for meaningful gains.

Settled? Any fouth grader who has learned anything in school is aware the planet goes through cycles.

No one can seriously argue anymore that global warming isn’t happening and that human activity isn’t a significant part of the cause. The question now is what to do about it.

Evil humans! Make a law, ban the evil doers! And yes, we CAN argue that “fact”!

Yes, there are still serious questions on the details – just how much the average temperature will increase, how high sea levels will rise, how crops and the environment will be affected – but the crux of the matter has been settled.

Again with the “settled”? Who’s settled it? You? Looking at the “global warming” of the Middle Ages”, I’d say the crops were gonna do just fine.

Since it’s a global problem, the warming trend requires a global response. There will be winners and losers, and some will bear more of the cost than others. Mitigating global warming won’t be easy, and it won’t be cheap. But spread the cost as broadly as possible – share the pain – and it should not be unbearable for any single country or people.

Wait a minute, I thought it was all Bush’s fault? What he means is that only democracies will be footing the bill, which means mostly the U.S., through OUR tax dollars.

The left seems to think the right doesn’t care about the planet. Tell me this…who leaves the bigger mess behind after a rally of any sort? It sure isn’t those on the right! We clean up after ourselves. The left leaves it for “volunteers”.

Oh, and by the way, have you seen that jet Queen Nancy wants?

And on that note, I’m going to hop in my semi fuel efficient PT Cruiser, and cruise on down the road!  🙂
