Obama sees 2 sides of L.A.

Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama wrapped up his first California campaign swing Tuesday by invoking the civil rights legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. at a Crenshaw rally, then collecting more than $1 million in checks at a celebrity-studded gala in Beverly Hills.

Well, if Hollyweird supports Obama, that’s good enough for me! NOT!

Rash of fire deaths prompts alarm efforts

The Milwaukee Fire Department and U.S. Fire Administration today urged people to install and check working smoke detectors, noting that there have been 56 fire fatalities nationwide in the first two weeks of February.

Just how hard is it to change the batteries in a smoke alarm once a year? Even the fire house has a big ol’ sign up to remind folks! And the things aren’t that expensive to begin with. Sure a lot cheaper than a funeral!!

Cheerleader hall of fame coming to Dallas?

Texas, the home state of some famous cheerleaders and infamous cheerleading scandals, might one day be home to a cheerleading hall of fame.

No offense to the cheerleading world, but does anyone really need a cheerleading hall of fame? Criminy!

Troops in Iraq to be cut by 1,600

The phased withdrawal of British troops from Iraq, with 1,600 returning within months, was announced by Tony Blair in the Commons today.

Perhaps the Brits actually allowed their troops to do their job, so they got it done a lot faster?

He’s not Superman, but still a hero

He swears he’s not faster than a speeding bullet, that he can’t leap a tall building in a single bound.

The world needs more people like this guy!

West Sacramento defends anti-gang measure
An ACLU lawyer calls the injunction against the Broderick Boys illegal during appellate hearing.

Calling an alleged West Sacramento gang “domestic terrorists,” Yolo County District Attorney Jeff Reisig defended his office’s controversial injunction against Broderick Boys members Tuesday before a state appeal court.

The ACLU really doesn’t give a happy crap about the safety of citizens. They are totally shameless, and need to be slapped down!

Bears banners will go to highest bidders

The city is auctioning online three Chicago Bears street pole banners proclaiming them “NFC Champions,” “NFC North Division Champions” and participants in Super Bowl 41.

Any Bears fans out there? 🙂

Health Care May Be 1/5 of What You Spend

Health care is expected to account for $1 of every $5 spent in the United States in another decade.

So that means we only get 4 bucks for food, housing and other little necessities of life? :/

Plan to triple cigarette tax faces a fight

Gov. Phil Bredesen’s proposal to triple the state’s cigarette tax would lower the number of kids who start smoking, according to anti-smoking advocates, but the proposal unfairly burdens cigarette smokers and would hurt Tennessee businesses, according to a tobacco spokesman.

I thought there were statistics stating there are fewer kids smoking these days?  I’m anti drinking, so I think they should raise the taxes on all alcohol by 50%. Yeah, makes as much sense, doesn’t it. YEESH!
