Confusion abounds about school fire drill regulations

Several school administrators say the data is wrong, they followed the law and are in compliance.

Of 63 area schools, 28 did not have reports on file, 16 were in compliance by holding the required nine drills a year and 19 were listed in non-compliance, according to the report.

If they had complied with state regulations, wouldn’t there have been records on file? DUH!

Intruders shot during home invasion

Police said two men broke into an apartment in the 5800 block of Skillman around 11:30 p.m. They robbed two people in the apartment, police said.

A third occupant of the apartment slipped a handgun to one of the robbery victims, according to officers. Both intruders were shot, police said.

Hopefully, the victims of the invasion will not be charged with anything, but the way things are going now days, you just never know. I have no sympathy for the thugs!3 city businesses held up overnight

A restaurant, tavern and video store reported armed robberies overnight on the north, south and east sides of Milwaukee.

Is there a crisis yet?

Man shot three times on south side

A 44-year-old man suffered three gunshot wounds while walking down the street on the city’s south side overnight, police said this morning.

How ’bout now?

Law would bar dumping patients on the street

State and local officials will unveil proposed legislation today making it a crime to dump hospital patients on the streets, part of a new push by authorities who are investigating 55 cases of alleged dumping on L.A.’s skid row alone.

That is one disgusting practice. I thought hospitals were suppose to care for people, not try to get them killed. You wouldn’t think there would be a NEED for such law. It’s called common decency.

When Crookston couple left town, they left the kids behind

William Marine Anderson and Jennifer Dawn Anderson left a note saying they were going to work “early” one day and never returned to their apartment or to her two daughters, ages 17 and 15, according to a criminal complaint.

Nominees for Parents of the Year?

Deval: ‘I really screwed up’ Admits gaffe on Caddy, furniture but defends $72G for wife

Gov. Deval Patrick yesterday admitted he “really screwed up” by spending tax dollars on a leased Cadillac and high-end office furniture, but he strongly defended the hiring of a $72,000-a-year chief of staff for his wife.

Another Democrat on a feeding frenzy at the public trough.

Evangelist tells students: Shun Muslims

A national Muslim advocacy group has rebuked the Wake County Public School system for allowing a Christian evangelist to speak at Enloe High School and distribute pamphlets denouncing Islam.

The Council on American Islamic Relations said the school system will have created a “discriminatory, hostile learning environment,” violating federal civil rights law, if it does not investigate the incident and apologize to students.

Probably not a real smart move, but he’s entitled to his opinion, right? Hmmm….naw, cuz it’s not anti-Christian.

English vote can’t happen this year

Until Wednesday, the chance to make English the official language of Nashville seemed tantalizingly close to many people.

Perhaps they should consider making it a statewide referendum instead. I’ll be able to vote in TN in 2008. 🙂

Archdiocese praised on sex abuse, monitoring questioned

After eight months of scrutiny, a committee of law enforcement agents, jurists, child welfare advocates and other civic leaders issued a report Wednesday praising the Chicago archdiocese for making strides in the handling of clergy sex abuse cases, but questioned whether more could be done to monitor priests who have been removed from ministry.

I think they should have reconsidered the headline!

Taliban ‘in control’ in Helmand

Al Jazeera has uncovered evidence that Taliban fighters are now in effective control of large parts of a key province in southwest Afghanistan, despite recent claims by Nato that their bases had been destroyed.

This is NOT a good thing!
