Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards says Jesus would be appalled at how the United States has ignored the plight of the suffering, and that he believes children should have private time to pray at school.
“I think that Jesus would be disappointed in our ignoring the plight of those around us who are suffering and our focus on our own selfish short-term needs,” Edwards told the site. “I think he would be appalled, actually.”
The most generous nation on the planet has “ignored the plight of the suffering”? I wonder how much he has personally given to charities? I don’t know about you, but I give quite frequently to many different organizations that help the poor. That’s what Christians do. That’s what Americans do. Although I’m sure he’s talking about the American government not giving enough, but since WE are the American government, he’s telling all of us we’re cheapskates. What a crock!
And BTW John, private prayer in school has never actually stopped, it’s just been outlawed by folks like YOU! But I’m sure he’s talking about setting aside of “prayer room” for Muslim students, not Christian, Jewish, Hindu or Buddhists.
