Comedian Richard Jeni dies, apparent suicide

Richard Jeni, a standup comedian who played to sold-out crowds, was a regular on the “Tonight Show” and appeared in movies, died of a gunshot wound in an apparent suicide, police said Sunday.

Schumer: AG Gonzales Should Resign for Putting Politics Above Law

The Senate’s No. 3 Democrat said Sunday that Attorney General Alberto Gonzales should resign because he is putting politics above the law.

Sen. Charles Schumer cited the FBI’s illegal snooping into people’s private lives and the Justice Department’s firing of top federal prosecutors.

I always get a kick out of politicians, of either party, when they point fingers.

Iraqis Flee City as Militants Burn Homes

Sunni militants burned homes in a mixed city northeast of Baghdad on Saturday and Sunday, forcing dozens of families to flee and raising the specter of a new intimidation tactic in Iraq’s evolving civil war, Iraqi officials and witnesses said.

What is wrong with those people? Isn’t it time to put the long ago history behind them?

French FM: Military strike against Iran unlikely

A military strike against Iran is unlikely even if it doesn’t obey an international demand to stop enriching uranium France’s foreign minister said Sunday during a visit to the United Arab Emirates’ capital.

He’s French! Would you expect him to say anything else? The French (white) flag waving before resolution. How typical.

Travel firms and backbench MPs attack Tory plan to raise air taxes

The Tories proposed to increase aviation taxes yesterday as a weapon to cut greenhouse gas emissions — a policy that will be roundly condemned by Tony Blair and Gordon Brown today.

How on earth does the gubmint stealing money from folks cut greenhouse emissions?

Chemicals May Play Role in Rise in Obesity

Too many calories and too little exercise are undeniably the major factors contributing to the obesity epidemic, but several recent animal studies suggest that environmental exposure to widely used chemicals may also help make people fat.

Now there’s the best reason I’ve come across not to use your ordinary, every day, household cleaning agents, also known as house work. 🙂

Attempted stabbing at FdL party leads to arrest

Police were called to the home where about 30 people were having an “after-bar” party about 5:30 a.m., said Lt. Mick Burroughs of the Fond du Lac Police Department. Alcohol and drugs are contributing factors in the incident.

Aren’t most people sleeping at that time of the morning?

Curb Muslim immigration – Aust party leader

The leader of the Australian Christian Democratic Party, Reverend Fred Nile, says his country should give priority to Christians wanting to flee persecution in Muslim countries.

Mr Nile, a member of the NSW upper house, has called for a 10-year moratorium on Muslim immigration to Australia.

I hate to say it, but I think that’s a pretty good idea. Shouldn’t we be giving asylum to persecuted Christians, instead of letting in Muslims who want to change our country to suit their beliefs?
