World owes U.S. an apology

America deserves more respect. In the past 90 years the United States has saved the world from the Kaiser, Hitler, Stalin and communism. We also furnished millions of dollars to the Marshall Plan to rebuild Europe after World War II, including our former enemies.

Under our direction, Japan turned from a militaristic society to a very strong democracy. And we continue to give billions of dollars to under-developed countries each year.

We have lost hundreds of thousands of men and women defending other countries. All we get is resentment and jealousy.

Frederick Forsyth said it best in his book “Avenger:” “Hatred of your country is because of keeping theirs safe. Never seek popularity; what is felt toward you is 10 percent disagreement and 90 percent envy. No man will forgive his protector. There is no loathing that a man harbors more than toward his benefactor.”

The world owes the United States an apology and a huge debt of gratitude.
