An Ol’ Broad’s Ramblings

A Not Too Subtle Reminder

First they came for the Jews,
But I did not speak out because I was busy going after the conservatives.

Then they came for the Christians,
And I cheered on because I too was going after the Christians.

Then they came for the Animists,
But I didn’t speak out too loudly because I was busy going after the Republicans.

Then they finally came for me,
I died because there was nobody left to defend me.

Pastor Niemöller

We’d do well to remember if we don’t speak up now, we may not be able to in the future.

  1. I actually rewrote that classic piece to fit the modern times (not that anybody else knows the exact words that Pastor Niemöller wrote either).

  2. The message itself should be loud and clear, but some folks, sadly will miss it. This stuff has been running through my mind for a while now. Glad you came up with it! 🙂

  3. If you’d been paying attention you’d notice that some of us have been speaking up for the past 6 years while they’ve been coming for all manner of citizens.

The Noise Machine has been trying to cover it up.
