Cascade woman accused of driving drunk with 8-year-old daughter

A 31-year-old Cascade woman was charged Monday with drunken driving after police say she had a blood-alcohol level nearly five times the legal limit while driving with her 8-year-old daughter in the car.

I cannot fathom anyone being so irresponsible, yet it’s something that occurs on a daily basis. We all really need to grow up! Parents are responsible for the safety and well being of their kids and if we all don’t start thinking of them first and foremost.

Bill to limit U.S. in Iraq advances

Congressional negotiators from both chambers agreed to the new language yesterday afternoon, hours after Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid said Congress will no longer “turn a blind eye to the Bush administration’s incompetence and dishonesty.”

In the desire of the Democrats to destroy President Bush, they would destroy our nation as well. I hope you, who voted for these spoiled children, are really pleased. You’ve enabled the enemies of our country.

Toyota beats GM in sales for first time

Looking for more evidence the U.S. automakers are slipping? Toyota Motor Corp. sold more vehicles worldwide than General Motors Corp. in the first quarter, topping GM for the first time to become the world’s No. 1 auto seller on a quarterly basis, the Japanese company said Tuesday. Toyota sold 2.348 million vehicles worldwide in the January-March period, company spokesman Satoshi Yamaguchi said. That topped the 2.26 million vehicles that U.S.-based GM said it sold in the same three-month period.

The price of American cars keeps going up, but quality doesn’t. I had a Toyota Corolla and a Rav4. I loved both of those vehicles. I love my PT too, but I’m thinking the next purchase, in the far distant future will be another Toyota. GREAT gas mileage and extremely dependable.

Race, sex emphasis in Colo. targeted

Anti-affirmative-action champion Ward Connerly, who helped advocate for a controversial California initiative prohibiting race- and gender-based hiring in public jobs and admission to public colleges, appeared in Denver on Monday to help launch a similar ballot measure in Colorado.

I’m of the mind that there should be NO special privileges for any particular groups of people. If you have the ability to do a job better than someone else, then you should get the job. Because you are of a particular color or gender, and do not have the qualifications, why should you be hired over the one who does have the better skills? Remove race and gender from all applications. It won’t solve the problem completely, but it’s a good start.

Car bomb kills nine US soldiers in Diyala

A suicide bomber killed nine American soldiers and wounded 20 others at a military outpost north of Baghdad in the single deadliest attack on American ground forces in more than a year, the US military said today.

As the news was announced, two car bombs exploded in a car park near the Iranian Embassy in Baghdad and a rash of bombings and shootings were reported around the country. At least 50 Iraqis were reported dead in the attacks. A further 68 people were killed yesterday.

I wonder if the Dhims are aware, or even care, their words are having these kind of consequences? YES, I do put this slaughter right on Pelosi and Reid’s doorstep.

Southlake school evacuated after student brings grenade

Old Union Elementary School in Southlake was evacuated Tuesday morning after a fourth grader brought a grenade to school, the Carroll school district said.

Where on earth would a fourth grader get a bloomin’ hand grenade?

PACs tied to Sudan gave $580k

Sudan-linked PACs sent contributions to 13 House members who backed a plan by Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.) requiring public companies to reveal the nature of their ties to Sudan and barring them from federal contracts until the ties were severed. Eight of those House members, all Democrats, received contributions from Sudan-linked PACs within two weeks of signing on to Lee’s bill last year.

I thought it was illegal to take money from foreign interests? When did that change?

Obama, in speech, stresses U.S. leadership

Sen. Barack Obama on Monday outlined his approach to foreign policy, pledging to double foreign aid, expand and modernize the military and rebuild fractured alliances.

Instead of increasing foreign aid, why don’t we keep a good chunk of OUR money to use on AMERICAN interests, like homeland security, or oh say, natural disasters?
