Alcohol may shrink brain, scans show

DRINKING large amounts of alcohol might not only leave you with a headache in the morning — it could also shrink your brain.

The warning comes after researchers examined the brains of more than 1800 people, ranging from former and non-drinkers to heavy drinkers.

That would explain a great deal, and I’ll leave it at that.

Iran arrests former nuclear negotiator

Iranian authorities have arrested the country’s former nuclear negotiator, an ally of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s predecessor and key rival, and he reportedly could face an espionage charge.

I wonder whose Wheaties he wizzed in.

Month of May Dedicated to Appreciating Servicemembers

“Our military has played a major role in the development of our country chronicled through their unbending honor, their dedication to duty and their love of country,” the National Military Appreciation Month Web site states. “Federal, state and local governments and private sector entities are invited to participate in this special month and to encourage everyone to sponsor and participate in programs.”

So why haven’t I heard anything about this in the news?

Keys to maximum-security Iowa prison sold on eBay

The keys belonged to a locksmith who retired from Anamosa State Penitentiary in 1974. He died two years later and when his wife died last year, an auctioneer was hired to sell off the estate, which included the keys.

I guess you can find just about anything on eBay.

US: Inmate gets three years for threatening Bush

Ricky Arnell Ward, 20, put his name and address on the January 2006 letter he sent to the FBI claiming he planned to kill the president because “he is a stupid … man.” When questioned by the Secret Service about the letter, Ward told them he was periodically visited by “command hallucinations,” among other mental ailments, and if he received one concerning Bush after he was released from Ada County Jail in Boise, he might act on it.

If people got shot for being stupid, there would be very few people left on the planet. What a maroon!

House Fails to Override Bush Veto on Iraq

House Democrats fell far short of overriding President Bush’s veto of the $124 billion war spending bill this afternoon, clearing the stage for negotiations between the president and lawmakers on a new bill.

I can’t imagine they were expecting to actually over ride the veto.

3,608 Mothers Breast-Feed at Same Time

More than 3,000 Filipino mothers breast-fed simultaneously in day-care centers and hospitals Wednesday in a campaign to counter advertising claims that artificial baby foods are better than breast milk.

What if the babies aren’t hungry all at the same time?

US ‘to tighten rules on Britons’

The US government is reportedly seeking to tighten visa restrictions for British citizens of Pakistani origin.

Now, if we could just tighten our borders, it’s a good start.

SUV Hits Several Outside California Middle School

A sport utility vehicle jumped a curb outside a middle school Wednesday afternoon, plowed into a group of children waiting for a bus and rammed into a tree, trapping several students underneath, police said.

Damn SUVs! No one ever drives them, but they sure do cause a great deal of damage.  Seriously, they’ve really got to start blaming the driver, and NOT the vehicle.

  1. Too cool. The Prez celebrates Appreciating Servicemembers Month by vetoing the funding for them. How kind

  2. Don’t pay attention much do ya Grumps! The veto was for the time table, not to mention all the crap Congress through in there that had NOTHING to do with funding the troops!

  3. Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind. That crap included funding for ports protection among other things the Commander Guy left unfunded in his budget along with the troop funding. If he’d been honest enough to budget for the war he wants we wouldn’t be having this exchange.

I am paying attention. GWB through out his baby with the timeline bathwater. Now he needs to deal with the consequences.
