NFdL standoff ends peacefully

A nearly four-hour standoff in North Fond du Lac ended peacefully this morning when a man walked to his front door and surrendered to police.

Peaceful endings are a good thing.

Clinton Steps Up Appeals to Female Donors

Democratic presidential hopeful Hillary Rodham Clinton is increasingly banking on politically active women to keep her on pace with Sen. Barack Obama in the ongoing sprint for campaign cash.

I sure hope I don’t get any ‘gimme money’ mail from her. I’m afraid I’d have to respond, minus any money. 🙂

Police officer shot dead in ‘domestic incident’

A police officer died this morning after being shot trying to help a woman at the centre of a violent domestic row.

Prayers with the family. But I have to ask. Since guns are banned in England, with what was he shot?

Student accused of Clinton plot

A 19-year-old Louisiana State University student was being held Friday on $1 million bond, accused of planning an attack against U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton.

I find the woman grating, but I surely wish her no harm. This is getting nuts!

Corzine to resume duties Monday

Corzine, sitting in the front seat with his seat belt off, said he barely noticed the speed he was traveling as a state trooper zipped the Chevrolet Suburban up the Garden State Parkway, en route to a meeting with fired radio host Don Imus and the Rutgers University women’s basketball team. Corzine was occupied with a stack of papers, editing and firing off questions to aides, he recalled Saturday.

I’ve heard his apology for not wearing a seat belt. But where is his apology for being a stupid, inattentive, speeding driver?

McGee’s son will take over show

The show will stay in the family, with McGee’s son, Milwaukee Ald. Michael McGee, taking over as host of the “Word Warriors” program.

“He was the natural host for this show at least for now,” said Jones.

The younger McGee has himself stirred controversy with various remarks he has made about gays and others.

Are they bloomin’ kidding????? He’s just as bad as the old man! Jones must have lost his mind. From one disgusting ‘host’ to another. Insanity!

Mayweather wins decision over De La Hoya

Floyd Mayweather Jr. couldn’t win over the crowd, or even his own father. All he could win was the only thing that really counted Saturday night, his fight against Oscar De La Hoya.

Darn! I was rooting for De La Hoya. Of course, I didn’t watch it, because, well, I wasn’t going to pay $55, or whatever it was for pay per view.

Kurdish gang activity perturbs community
Immigrants say small group tarnishes all

Nashville police estimate that there are fewer than 20 hard-core members of Kurdish Pride — a gang that seems to exist only in Nashville. But the entire Kurdish community, between 6,000 and 8,000, finds itself tarred by the gang’s actions.

Disturbing. My general impression of the Kurds has always been rather peaceful. Perhaps we should take a good look at the society (ours) that turns respectful kids into vicious animals. This is happening in way too many communities, in all ethnic areas.

Republican Leader Says Give Surge a Chance

“Over the course of the next three to four months, we’ll have some idea how well the plan’s working. Early signs are indicating there is clearly some success on a number of fronts,” he said.

The Dhimmis keep telling us Americans wanted a new direction. Well, this IS a new direction. Give it time to either work, or fail, but quit whining, and work for victory, NOT defeat.

  2. Going deeper in the same direction isn’t a new direction. Only those in deep denial would claim it as being so. When The Commander Guy started this whole surge 100 days ago he said we’d know if it was working in 60-90 days.

It’s time to call a spade a spade and put an end to this sham.

  3. Odd. The generals on the ground are seeing noticeable improvements. Perfect? No, but every step forward seems to be countered by the weak willed on THIS side of the Atlantic.
