Gore backers hold on to cash

Prominent political fundraisers who backed Al Gore’s 2000 presidential campaign are reserving support for the current slate of 2008 Democrats in hopes the former vice president will swoop in for another White House bid.

Please. NO swooping! The mental image is more than I can bear! I think it’s more like bamboozle.

Districts offer more pay, child care to attract new teachers

Trying to attract good teachers for next year, Rutherford County planned to launch an on-site child-care program, but because of low interest, the idea got scrapped.

This is getting ridiculous. Teachers are going to start expecting the taxpayers to pay ALL their personal bills. Why would the district even offer?

25 cents for big change

“I was going to buy a horse, but I see people on the street who don’t even have food, so I changed my mind,” said Isabelle Duhot, a fifth-grader at Rolling Hills Elementary School in Aurora. She donated her entire savings of $100 to Quarters For Kids, a philanthropic program founded by Noel and Tammy Cunningham, owners of Strings restaurant.

Teaching kids to care about those less fortunate is a noble cause. That being said, I think one more important lesson should have been inserted. It’s people who care….NOT governments! Giving freely is a whole lot more important than having it sucked out of your pocket by force. One other lesson they should be teaching….throwing money at a problem does not make the problem go away.

Threat sparks Racine County standoff

A call in the Town of Raymond for a man threatening to shoot himself led to five hours of negotiations that ended early this morning when Racine County SWAT officers used chemical devices to force the man out of a van.

Obviously, the man didn’t really want to shoot himself. If he had, he would have. He wanted help.

6 charged with plot to kill Fort Dix soldiers

Six men described by federal prosecutors as “Islamic militants” were arrested on charges they plotted to attack the Fort Dix Army base and “kill as many soldiers as possible,” authorities said Tuesday.

If they had succeeded, would the Dhimmis have cheered?

Cops: Woman, 83, Forced to Smoke Crack in ID Scam

A woman forced an 83-year-old housemate to smoke crack cocaine so she could steal personal information to get a credit card and run up more than $3,000 in charges, authorities said.

Pasco County sheriff’s investigators accused Theresa M. Stanley-Morgan, 41, of getting the older woman to smoke the drug at least twice to make it easier to exploit her financially.

I’m not a violent person, but I wouldn’t mind taking a few swings at that b*tch with a baseball bat!

The right to choose death

The number of terminally ill people travelling from Britain to end their lives in a Swiss assisted suicide clinic has doubled in the past year.

In protest at what they see as Britain’s outdated euthanasia laws, patients from the UK are flocking to the Dignitas clinic in Zurich where they are promised a dignified death.

Just one more line to cross in the decline of Western civilization. People can choose to die with dignity WITHOUT being euthanized/killed.

LAPD chief reassigns two officials over park violence

At the same time, a preliminary inquiry suggested that police had made a series of tactical errors in the incident, which injured at least 10 protesters and journalists, as well as seven police officers. Carter and Gray were the senior commanders in charge of policing the protest.

The cops should have just arrested those who wouldn’t comply with their orders to get out of the street. L.A. tends to always blame the cops first, instead of looking at the whole picture, so I’m always suspect of what comes out. Since I wasn’t there, I don’t know the whole story, and odds are, I never will.

Report: Hamas threatens to kill Schalit if IDF enters Gaza

In an as-yet-unpublished statement to a Palestinian Web site, the group’s spokesman, Abu Obaidah, was quoted as saying that if the IDF carries out a military incursion in Gaza, Schalit’s life could be in clear danger, and he may even be killed.

How do the Israelis even know if the kid is actually still alive? I guess killing kids is what terrorists do best. Cowardice reigns.

  1. If I am terminally ill with cancer with no hope of recovery, and I want to end my suffering now rather than live in extreme pain for the next 4-6 months, what is your problem with that?

  2. I have no problem at all! IF, you are the one making the decision and doing the deed. That’s your choice. I have a problem with a government sanctioning doctors to pull the plug.

  3. Is it far better to die alone and unhelped? God forbid that someone with knowledge should help ease your pain.

Jayce, my thoughts are with you more than you can know. Please find it in your heart to forgive these Old Testament types before you go. May you find the peace you seek.

  4. You can die in a room full of people, but you still die alone grumps, UNLESS you actually believe in Someone greater than yourself. Evidently, you didn’t read what I wrote. I do NOT believe in government sanctioned euthanasia! Pay attention!
