Into the sunset: Planes give show new spin

On Saturday, just before the Memphis in May International Festival concluded its month-long celebration in Tom Lee Park, Hoover bid his own farewell to the 31st annual event, as part of a new air show added to the entertainment.

Before the Sunset Symphony, featuring the Memphis Symphony Orchestra, launched into a concert with the ’60s singing group The Temptations, a group of mostly local and regional pilots gathered their vintage warbirds and experimental aircraft at Gen. DeWitt Spain municipal airport just north of Mud Island.

If I didn’t dislike large crowds so much, it might have been fun to go to this shindig, but only if Mr. Ol’ Broad went too, and he doesn’t like large crowds even more than me. 🙂
