Bush to Pick Zoellick for World Bank

In selecting Zoellick, 53, to serve a five-year term as bank president, the White House opted for a familiar choice, a former member of the Bush Cabinet and a figure widely respected in foreign capitals, the officials said. Zoellick is a former U.S. trade representative and deputy secretary of state who went to work last year as an executive at Goldman Sachs.

Since people have lost faith in the President, is it really wise for him to pick someone who is already in his ‘circle’? Just wondering.

Wisconsin man claims March 31 Powerball jackpot

A Wisconsin man presented the ticket Tuesday good for a $40.7 million Powerball prize from the March 31 drawing.

Sadly, it wasn’t Mr. Ol’ Broad.

Fred Thompson to take step toward formal candidacy next week

Fred Thompson, a former Tennessee senator and “Law & Order” actor, will take a step toward a formal presidential candidacy next week, several officials with knowledge of the plans said Wednesday.

Thompson will form a “testing the waters” committee, which will allow him to begin raising money and hiring staff without officially committing to a White House bid. The creation of the committee, to be called “Friends of Fred Thompson,” will be paired with the start of his first major fundraising push.

It’s about bloomin’ time! 🙂 I’m ready….let’s get to work!

Iraqi, U.S. Forces Raid Sadr City in Search for 5 Kidnapped British Citizens

Hundreds of Iraqi and U.S. troops cordoned off sections of Baghdad’s Sadr City slum early Wednesday and conducted a series of raids in an apparent effort to find five British citizens abducted from a nearby government building the day before, local residents and police said.

Does that mean that followers of al Sadr can only look forward to living in a ‘slum’? I thought that the British had been pulling troops out, why on earth would they target the Brits?

Drug/booze-laced sleepover snack brings arrest

A Hopkins man was charged Tuesday with giving cranberry juice laced with alcohol and a date rape drug to three children during a sleepover at his house.

Two of the children — the suspect’s 10-year-old stepson and a 12-year-old girl who was visiting the house — became sick, requiring a trip to the hospital Monday, police said.

What a sick son of a b*tch! I honestly am beginning to believe that there is a serious mental health problem going on in this country…..shoot, the whole bloomin’ world.

Overweight bullied prisoners to get free personal trainers

Prison bosses are anxious obese inmates are being ‘socially excluded’ because they cannot exercise with other inmates.

To slim them down they have hired dozens of health trainers to give killers and robbers a free fitness assessment followed by individual exercise routines.

Now that is down right pathetic. I do believe the British have forgotten the purpose of prison. I’m sure their taxpayers are just thrilled to be paying for something odds are many of them can’t afford.

U.S. to raise citizenship, green card fees

The new fees, reflecting an average 66% increase, led immigrant advocates and some members of Congress to criticize them as a “wall” that could bar poorer immigrants from citizenship. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services officials countered that the increases were essential to help the overloaded agency reduce its backlog and speed service.

So, now it costs more to become a citizen. I suppose that makes sense, but how ’bout make it a requirement to learn to speak the language? I thought at one time it was necessary, but lately, I just don’t see it.

  1. They will pay $800,000 for personal trainers for fat prisoners, yet bill a man who was wrongly convicted for his room and board while he was in prison. Britain has clearly lost its collective mind.
