1 dead in I-285 shooting

One man was killed and three injured in a shooting on I-285 near Jonesboro Road Saturday, Atlanta police said.

The world has gone insane.

Gov. halts work on new death chamber
Officials admit the project exceeded costs requiring the Legislature’s OK, but say they will still send an overhaul plan to a judge by May 15.

Among numerous criticisms, the judge said the existing execution room — originally the gas chamber — was too dimly lighted, crowded and poorly designed to allow the execution team to effectively monitor whether inmates received enough barbiturate to deaden the pain. He also said the state failed to provide meaningful training, supervision and oversight of the execution team, allowed the improper preparation and mixing of drugs and had not reliably documented amounts of sodium thiopental taken from the prison pharmacy.

How much does a rope, or a bullet cost? Outside would solve that lighting problem too.

Nigeria vote ends amid violence

In Daura, the home town of Muhammadu Buhari, an opposition candidate, hundreds of youths smashed cars and set fire to shacks after reports that thousands of ballots were missing.

Three boys were shot dead when soldiers opened fire during the protest, hospital sources said. At least 10 others were wounded.

I guess sometimes it’s pretty hard to have a democracy, but is this really what democracy is all about? Missing ballots, violence, dead kids? We have no idea how good we really have it, do we.

Va. Tech Probe Focuses on Computer Use

The Virginia Tech killer went to the Internet less than a month before the massacre to get ammunition clips that fit one of the two handguns he used in the rampage, an eBay spokesman said Saturday.

And? When are we going to start blaming the person for what they do, instead of where they buy the items to commit their crimes? The guy was evil, plain and simple!

Mexican travel advisory issued

The U.S. State Department warned Americans this week of drug violence in several parts of Mexico, including states along the Texas border. The travel advisory comes as emboldened traffickers have posted written death threats against government officials and their families – attaching them with ice picks to the bodies of murder victims, U.S. and Mexican officials said.

How’s that “war on drugs” thing going fellas? That wall is looking better and better all the time.

Feds backed in WTC air case

A three-judge panel of the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals on Thursday upheld a lower court ruling that tossed out a lawsuit by five emergency workers. The workers, who say they all suffer ailments related to their work at Ground Zero, charge that former Environmental Protection Agency head Christie Whitman misled them by issuing public statements assuring them the air was safe.

I don’t see how anyone could have known just how bad the air was in that area. Yet, when you look back, how could anyone have said it was “safe”? The place was smoldering for a long time and that can’t be good for you.

For Koreans, grief and fear mix

Lessons of discrimination resonate in the Korean community. The persecution of Asian Americans after World War II haunts those who are old enough to remember. Younger generations recall the treatment of Arab Americans after the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, as a warning that tragedies can make entire ethnic groups the target of hate and suspicion. “It is natural,” said Pastor Seong Soo Kim of the Peninsula Korean Baptist Church in Newport News. “We anticipate that, even though we don’t hope that.”

This was one lone lunatic. His ethnicity doesn’t matter, at least not to me. 9/11 was caused by a group of lunatics, sent by other lunatics who are still lose on the world. Anyone of Korean decent have nothing to fear from me.

Blue Angel pilot killed in air show crash

Police reports indicate that the Blue Angel clipped power lines near Shanklin Raod in Burton about 4 p.m. and went down about 30 minutes into the unit’s show at Marine Corps Air Sttion Beaufort.

Prayers.

Tennessee Touchdown

I have arrived back in Tennessee. Actually, I’ve been here about 4 hours, but after unloading the car and getting some laundry started, the vegetation time set in.

This dial up stuff is starting to grate, so what is sitting on the counter that had arrived in the mail when Mr. Ol’ Broad was down here last week? A notice that there is Wild Blu available in the area. sigh… Welp, I guess I’ll just have to check into that on Monday. I’m too out of it today.

I did stop at the casino in Caruthersville. Lucky me – I earned a deck of cards with the Casino Aztar logo and a hole drilled through them. Why? The best part? I got a $20 food voucher. Ok, I wasn’t expecting to win and I definitely wasn’t disappointed. It’s not a great place, although I didn’t check out the whole place. It looks like a phony river boat, which is what it is….a phony river boat.

Food review: I ate at Corky’s in the lobby type area of the casino. It’s a BBQ place, so I had….drum roll please……..BBQ. I have to admit, it wasn’t too shabby. It could have used a bit more bbq taste, but hey, I’m a Texan, so I think that no matter how good it is. The ribs actually had meat on them. And I mean a LOT of meat with the right amount of fat to make it seriously, fall of the bone, tender. Just in case you have reason to be on that section of I-55, I’d actually recommend the place. It’s only about 5 miles off the freeway and they’ve got $2.00 valet parking. How can ya go wrong? 🙂

Yep, there’s a big ol’ tree down in the front yard. I have no idea how I’m going to get it deal with, but where there’s a will, there’s a way, right? Hmmm….nope. I don’t think I’ll go buy a chain saw. That would be extremely dangerous for a person who can barely walk and chew gum at the same time.

I have a feeling this is going to be a very busy week or so. sigh….

I Want MY Computer

I’m having computer attitude problems.  Yes, computers DO TO have attitudes, and no one can convince me otherwise!  That being said, no “Morning Coffee” while I’m sipping my morning coffee this morning.  Tonight, once I have arrived at the house, I’m confident this will not be a problem.  (fingers crossed, toes crossed, eyes crossed, and anything else that can be crossed in a wishful manner)  Since this is Mr. Ol’ Broad’s laptop, I couldn’t swear to anything.  I don’t know his system, I don’t have everything I read bookmarked, etc.

However, I did come across something that made me think of the major differences in our culture and that of the Middle East.  I’ve seen several polls on whether or not the media should have shown the video of that madman who murdered at VT.  Polls run by Western sites showed more than 50% do NOT think the video should have been shown.  On Al Jazeera, they too, are running a poll.  54.7 believe the video SHOULD have been shown.  I realize polls aren’t terribly accurate, and I don’t put a lot of stock in them.  This did tell me something though, about the major difference between the two.

This is going to be a fairly short driving day.  Well, it would be if I hadn’t decided to make a stop in Caruthersville, MO……just out of curiosity ya know.   It still might be a short day, depending on just how fast a slot machine will rip a few bucks out of my pocket.  🙂  Just a few Mr. Ol’ Broad!  According to Mapquest, it’s only about an hour from here, which in reality means, it’s about 2.  After that, it’s only about 3 hours, with the required stop at the grocery store, to the house.  This is going to be a much better day…. no wrecks!

Resign!

Filed under: Personal opinion — olbroad @ 9:51

I’ve given this a LOT of thought over the past 24 hours or so.  I’ve decided Harry Reid MUST resign!  For the Senate Majority leader of the United States to say “The war is lost!”, giving every evil, murderous terrorist a victory, is beyond reprehensible.  I can assure you, if Mitch McConnell had said the same thing, I would be calling for his resignation as well, and so would the Democrats along with their lackeys, the main stream media.

Treason:

1. the offense of acting to overthrow one’s government or to harm or kill its sovereign.
2. a violation of allegiance to one’s sovereign or to one’s state.
3. the betrayal of a trust or confidence; breach of faith; treachery.

Now, being no legal scholar, on the Constitution, or anything else, I can’t swear that this scum bag has commited treason with his words, but I’m pretty sure he is a…..

Traitor:

1. a person who betrays another, a cause, or any trust.
2. a person who commits treason by betraying his or her country.

I hear algore’s rant, “He BETRAYED this country!” Of course, he wasn’t talking about Reid, but it sure fits a lot better when applied to blatherings of the head Dhimmi in the Senate.

This man has betrayed our troops, he’s betrayed our trust, and he’s betrayed what this country stands for!

So, if anyone knows of a way to get him to step down….and out, let me know!  I’ll do my best to help.
